EU Packaging Rules Take Effect

EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation 2025/40 applies from 12 August 2026 — binding recyclability, recycled-content and labelling duties on everyone placing packaging on the EU market.

ALREADY LAW

Single-Use Plastics Banned

Directive 2019/904 already bars plastic cutlery, plates, straws and EPS food containers, while Directive 2015/720 curbs lightweight carrier bags. More formats fall away under PPWR Annex V from 2030.
